Upcoming Holiday Show Extravaganza!

I’ll be doing three weekends of holiday shows this year, which is a little bit crazy, but I’m excited!

First up is Bazaar Bizarre, December 1st & 2nd at the Concourse Center in San Francisco. I’ll be at table #137 with Nidhi Chanani!

Next up, dorklandia visits Portlandia once again, for Crafty Wonderland on December 8th & 9th.

I’ll finish out the year with the lovely folks from the Renegade Craft Fair, on December 15th & 16th. I’ll have my cart for this show, but I am going to try to stay in one place as much as possible.

I hope to see you all soon! 2012 has been one crazy year.

Upcoming Shows in May!

I will be doing four (!?!!!) shows in May! I’m really excited about it, but it does mean I’ve been a bit hunkered down for these past couple of weeks. I’ll have some new things to show at all four shows, plus a few old favorites.

First up, I’ll be at the Vagabond Indie Craft Fair at Urban Bazaar in San Francisco, on May 5th from noon til 7pm. All the details can be found here. They’ll have a bakesale out front, and I am planning on bringing dangerous gluten-free rumballs! This is a lovely show in the backyard of this truly nifty shop in the Inner Sunset neighborhood. I love being outside all day, and this is a very relaxed and friendly event.

The PG&E Women’s Network Spring Bazaar will be a lunchtime event on Wednesday May 9th. It’s another outdoor event, with food trucks. I haven’t been able to find a lot of information about this online, but I know the PG&E Women’s Network provides scholarships. The show will be held at 77 Beale Street, near the fountain, from 11am till 4pm.

After that, I will be heading up to Portland for the excellent Crafty Wonderland show, on May 12th. This one will be at the Oregon Convention Center. I’m really excited about this one, since it’s the day before my birthday! I am taking the opportunity to spend a couple of days in Portland so I can check it all out; last year I flew up for the show and came back home on the same day and, zowie. It was a fun whirlwind of a time, but man, I was beat afters. So, I’m looking forward to seeing more than the convention center and the airport this time. Any suggestions?

The following weekend is the mighty Maker Faire! I will be part of the Bazaar Bizarre this year. The Maker Faire is a huge and fun and extra-interesting event, and I’m always happy to be even a tiny part of it. My very first show ever was in the Bazaar Bizarre at the Maker Faire back in 2007, and I’m delighted to be included again. I’m not sure if I will be bringing the ice cream cart this time, but I do hope to. More details as the time approaches. The Maker Faire will be in San Mateo on May 19th and 20th, and it’s absolutely worth checking out.

Hope to see you soon!

Sunbrothers Valentine’s Show, Sunday February 12th!

It’s that time of the year again! Come to the twelfth annual Sunbrothers show this Sunday. I’ll have all sorts of things: octopi, squid, kitties, cowls, apples, and wayyyyy too many hats! Details and directions can be found here.

I’ll also have a few crocheted hearts, and the incredibly rare cephalopoda valentina!

Stop SOPA

Tons of websites, including this one,  are participating in a blackout today to protest SOPA and PIPA. Those of us here in dorklandia support this blackout and urge you to learn about these scary bills. I think the folks over at O’Reilly have summed it up well here.

You can send your senator and your representative opposition letters using the links above. It’s quick and very easy. I don’t like to talk about politics much, which is probably a side effect of growing up near D.C., but this one is real and close to all of us.

Renegade Craft Fair is this weekend!

After a very hectic past two weekends, I will be decking out the ice cream cart for the holiday Renegade Craft Fair this weekend! Please come and check it out, there will be over 200 vendors. And it seems like I’ve started a trend: there will be a total of four roving vendors there. Crazy, no?

Bazaar Bizarre Holiday Show!

I’m pleased to say I will be a part of the Bazaar Bizarre Holiday Show in San Francisco next weekend! I will have a special holiday version of my ice cream cart, it should be a pretty fun time! All the details can be found on their site, here.

Hope to see you there!

Actual Cafe Show! and… the September contest!

The second half of the year is already tearing by. This weekend, I will be participating in a group show at the Actual Cafe in Oakland. Here is the Facebook invite, if you’re into that sort of thing. It’s a show with a few other fiber artists, called Fuzzy Logic. They will be showing the Muppet Movie, so you know I’m both in my element and totally excited! You should come and see it! I am still a bit awkward with the whole “artist” label, so please come and see me and tell me everything is ok, and outsider art is still acceptable. 😀

Let’s see… I am also running my monthly contest on my Facebook page. This time, I am going to give away an entire big blue squid! This is because I’m so geeked about my new squid pattern, and want to send them out into your hands and arms.

So, enter! And, come and see me! APE and Geek Girl Con are both coming up super-quickly, so stay tuned!

Mimic octopus

Like all good dorky girls, I love xkcd. Especially this one:

hooray!

July contest, and July shows!

Firstly, I am running a little contest on my facebook page. You have until July 7th to enter!

I have three! shows in July. First up is the Renegade Craft Fair. This will be a great show, and is the last chance to see the ice cream cart this summer!

Next, on July 14th, I will be part of Bizarre Bazaar at the California Academy of Sciences Nightlife event! Man, that is a mouthful! If you’ve never been to a Nightlife event, you should really check it out. It’s lovely to be at the museum with grownups and drinks, and they usually have great speakers and djs. It’s fun!

Finally, on July 24th, I will be heading back to the Indie Mart! It’s been soooo long since there’s been an Indie Mart show, and I really miss them. Come spend the day in the sun! I think a lot of the vendors are going to be pretty excited for this show, it should be a great one.

I hope to see you at some or all of these! Also, you should check out the Nyan Cat scarf I made:
