A few pictures …

This one was a custom order…

This one is pink and almost-gold, sparkly and fuzzy.

Here’s a giant pile, right before APE.

achoo!

Achooooo!

I made these for my friend Pete.

I don't really want a picture of me on my own blog, but yall won't make fun, right?

This is the first octoscarf I made.

It’s crazy photo-post day! I realized I’d been posting pictures mostly to the dorklandia facebook page, and decided to post a bunch here, too.

I’m now a licensed San Francisco Street Artist, for what it’s worth. Once it stops being rainy and nasty every day, you may well find me hanging out on the street with a bunch of new stuffed animals. I’ll post my location on the days I make it out there.

2009 was a really full year! Sunbrothers, Maker Faire, Indie-Mart(s), Renegade Craft Fair(s), APE, Mission Bazaar, Gifty, and Noise Pop, not to mention the Lanesplitters show and that little 40-foot aluminum rocket ship. Pretty fancy! Thanks to everyone who stopped by and said hi and helped me populate the West Coast with octopi and ice creams. I’m looking forward to seeing you all in 2010, very much.

Gifty at The Crucible…

I’m pretty excited about this show, as Oakland and the Crucible are both very dear to me. There will be lots of cool things to see and do, and a bunch of amazing folks. I’m also really looking forward to finally eating at the Liba falafel truck. Oooh, I’ve been waiting so long to start my falafel affair! Hope you can make it!

Also coming up this weekend is the San Francisco Bazaar Bizarre. I don’t have a table there this year, but it’s a great event and you should check it out if you’re around.

In other news, the Renegade Craft Fair in Chicago was incredible. A record 53 octopi found new homes, plus some snowmen and owl bags. In fact, I sold everything I brought and nearly ran out of business cards + buttons! Thank you Chicago, and thanks to Danny and Sue for this great show. It’s going to be in San Francisco on the 19th +20th, but I’ll be out of town. Still, pretty darned exciting.

Back to crocheting for me!

Rocketships and APE and the Indie-Mart!

This is how I spent my summer vacation. There are so many many amazing things about this project! It’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever done, and I got to meet and work with dozens of genuinely nifty people. As soon as I have my own pictures developed (yeah, I know), I will post them, but for now, get thee to a flickr search!

In other news, I am going to have a table at the Alternative Press Expo in October. It’s a two-day show, and it should be very very cool indeed. Come look at comics and zines and ponder the wonderousness of the crazy octopus hats I’ll have there. October 17th and 18th at the giant Concourse building on Brannan and 7th in San Francisco (right where My Bloody Valentine played last year, oooh). Admission is $10 for one day or $15 for both (or free if you went to Comic Con this year and still have your badge).

Had a fantastic time at the Indie-Mart in August, and actually sold out of octopi! I’ll be at the Indie-Mart again on November 8th. This is a very fun outdoor show with a relaxed beery party atmosphere, and I like it a whole big bunch. More details as it gets closer!

Today was sortof a big day for me, as I finally got my California Seller’s Permit. Now I’m real!

And that’s all for now.
